On Monday after the race, our last day in Kona, Tawnee sat down with pro and Kona veteran Caitlin Snow, who was 9th female overall in this year’s Ironman World Championships for the second year in a row, to talk about the race she had, including where she felt she excelled and where she felt she suffered.

At only 30 years old, American Cait Snow has been competing in triathlons for the majority of her lifetime. With two top-10 Kona performances under her belt and a New England fire in her belly, this Boston-bred beauty is poised to fulfill the triathlon dreams her entire family has been helping her realize since she was 13 years old.

The Brockton, Mass.-based pro has been the top American woman in Kona the past two years. At the 2011 Ironman World Championship, she ran a 2:53 marathon—only Chrissie Wellington and Mirinda Carfrae ran faster—and finished ninth.

For the second year in a row professional triathlete Cait Snow ran her way into the top ten in Kona. Her 2:53.51 marathon earned her the title of first American female and ninth place overall. This is her fourth appearance in Hawaii and steady progress is the name of the game for Snow.
