The Best Man move

This has got to be the toughest part of training. The race is nearly 8 months away yet this is the most critical training phase. Included in this is dieting, which is so my favorite thing to do! Ever encountered a chocolate table before? For those of who have not come face to face with this torture device, it is a table full of every form and consistency of chocolate imaginable: cake, mousse, coated strawberries, loly-pops, brownies.

Oh, the gluttony!

I’ve eaten myskef sick. Literally. Three weeks of eating whatever I want whenever I want culminated in what some refer to as a hang-over. Others call it hell. I don’t drink, but the symptoms were all there: headache, nauseau, bed-spins. Well, actually I was in the car, but I’m sure if I had been lying in a bed it would have been spinning!

Out of Sight rip You are at Hawaii Ironman. You are about to race Hawaii Ironman. Tomorrow you will be racing Hawaii Ironman! Breathe…As we dropped off the bikes the day before THE race, it hit me. And because I’m a bit of a spaz, I nearly had a breakdown right there! Tim put his arm around me, turned me toward the water, and said, “It’s just another race.”

Lake Placid Race Report

Wow! What a week!Got married AND won Ironman! Can you say, “Honeymoon in Kona?!” Tim and I secretly planned our wedding for just over a year. Before Friday morning, the only people that knew were me, Tim, the Justice of the Peace, the lady that issued the marriage license, two guys getting fishing licenses at the same time, and Heather Fuhr (got bib number to say “Snow” and start-list “Shea-Kenney”). We got up around 5:30 Friday morning, dropped invitations at the doors of each of our 15 house-mates, and headed out to tell our parents.
